I would so much love to resemble you

You, the Being so majestic

If there comes one day when I can resemble you,

the next day, to fall, for my faith has faltered

You who, with every doubt, tell me that with You, I can achieve it

Oh, I would so much love to resemble you

While on the cross, You sacrificed yourself

You Jesus, innocent of all sin

Your love You have confirmed

from the desire to save all of humanity

I would so much love to resemble you

You, goodness personified

You never cease to amaze me

With the pure splendor of your presence

That only my spiritual eyes can discern

Your gentle gaze rests upon me

You who lift me up when I am worn out

You who, despite my failures,

my disobedience and my wanderings

Always wait for my return with kindness

I would so much love to resemble you

In your extraordinary patience

And your admirable humility

During this time of grace that you grant

You let many despise you

Because within your perfect love,

You still hope for their return

In order to fill this void

That they still try to hide well

That only You, however, can fill

Thank you for helping me live your holiness

You who on this celebrated day

Bore all my burdens, all my sins,

Without a cry, without claiming your innocence,

You were nailed to the cross

You shed your blood for my freedom

Just before you breathed your last, you uttered these words :

IT IS FINISHED

My debt You have paid, to give me YOUR LIFE

The one that alone can resemble you
